We’re excited to announce that Tekmark® Global Solutions, LLC (Tekmark) has acquired the assets of Odyssey Consulting Services (Odyssey) effective August 1, 2009.

In our continuing efforts to provide value-added services to our clients, Tekmark Global Solutions, LLC (Tekmark) is pleased to announce that it has become a member of and began using the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) E-Verify system since August 2009.

E-Verify is an Internet-based system operated by the DHS in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to quickly electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees. E-Verify works by allowing participating employers to compare employee information taken from the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification against more than 425 million records in the SSA database and more than 60 million records in DHS immigration databases. Results are returned within seconds. This check and balance of information ensures that Tekmark employees have legal authorization to work in the U.S.

For non-federal employers, the E-Verify system is a voluntary program at this time. However, effective September 8, 2009 any federal contractors and subcontractors wishing to continue supporting federal contracts were required to begin using the system.

E-Verify provides the following benefits to our clients:

• All queries run through E-Verify are automatically verified within 24 hours. E-Verify is the only official U.S. government source that provides employers with real-time data that takes the subjectivity out of verifying employment eligibility.
• It is an essential tool for employers committed to maintaining a legal workforce. The system also facilitates compliance with federal immigration laws.

Mercer County Light the Night Walk 2009

Despite a rainy forecast, hundreds of people turned out to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the 2009 Mercer County Light the Night Walk on Saturday October 3, 2009, held at Waterfront Park in Trenton. A sea of illuminated white, red, and gold balloons filled the air in support of those who have battled blood cancer.

Corporate Walk Chair, and CEO of Tekmark Global Solutions, LLC, Guy Del Grande and his team have raised more than $155,000 through fundraising efforts which included a charity golf event. Funds raised will go towards life-saving research, as well as support for patients and their families. “Tekmark was honored to play such an important role in this event, and we are pleased we were able to raise funds for such an important cause”, said Mr. Del Grande.

Unfortunately, continuous lightning and thunder demanded the cancellation of the walk itself. However, the atmosphere of hope and support remained as would-be walkers were led out of the stadium to the sounds of bagpipes, and the sight of hundreds of balloons illuminated in hopes that one day, walks like these will no longer be necessary.
